Number One With a Bullet (1987)Category: Action/Adventure Director: Jack Smight Cast:
Run Time: 103 (mins) Rating: R Summary: Two of America's toughest - and funniest - narcotics detectives fumble a case so badly that they are taken off the case, but end up taking the law into their own hands and set out on their own adventure. Nick Berzak (Robert Carradine) and Frank Hazeltine (Billy Dee Williams) are the cops who will go to any lengths to make a bust, using the same against-the-rules tactics that can be seen weekly on reruns of "Mod Squad" or "Starsky and Hutch." Berzak is apart from wife Teresa (Valerie Bertinelli) and jealous of her whereabouts, while Hazeltine is a state-of-the-art womanizer. Harry Da Costa (Barry Sattels) is the villain of the piece, an upstanding and seemingly solid member of the town's hierarchy who just happens to be the kingpin of the drug trade. There are some good and funny moments between Carradine and Williams and lots of action, mostly predictable but well shot by Smight and cinematographer Alex Phillips.
